The Six Million Dollar Man

The Six Million Dollar Man is an American television show about a former astronaut with bionic implants who works for OSI, a fictional government agency. The series is based on the Martin Caidin novel Cyborg, which was the proposed title for the series during pre-production. The Six Million Dollar Man ran as a regular series on the ABC network for five seasons from 1974 to1978, following three television pictures that aired in 1973. Lee Majors, who went on to become a pop culture phenomenon in the 1970s, portrayed the title role in Steve Austin. The Bionic Woman, a spin-off series, lasted from 1976 to 1978. Between 1987 and1994, there were several television movies starring both eponymous characters.
