The X Factor
The X Factor is a tv music competition to find brand new singing talent, contested by singers drawn from public auditions. The show began in September 2004 and has since aired from August/September through to December. The show is produced by the Thames and the production company SYCOtv of Cowell of FremantleMedia. It's broadcast on the ITV network in the Uk and also TV3 in Ireland, with show The Xtra Factor screened on ITV2. It's the originator of the The X Factor franchise that is international. The X Factor was devised as a replacement for the tremendously powerful Pop Idol, that was placed on indefinite hiatus after its next series, chiefly because Cowell, who was a judge on Pop Idol, wanted to launch a new show on which he possessed the tv rights. The similarity between both shows after became the subject of a valid dispute. The"xfactor" of the title refers to the undefinable"some thing" which produces for star caliber.
The judging panel was Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh. The panel was combined by dannii Minogue in series 4, and Osbourne was substituted by Cheryl Cole in string 5 after her passing. After series 7, Cowell and Cole made to gauge that the American edition of the show whilst Minogue abandoned the show due to commitments on the Got Talent of Australia. Kelly Rowland, Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow united Walsh on the judging panel for string 8, though Rowland announced she wouldn't return for string 9 and was substituted by Nicole Scherzinger. Osbourne returned in 2013, replacing Contostavlos. Since 2007, Dermot O'Leary, who substituted original host Kate Thornton has presented the show. The show is broken up into a succession of phases, subsequent to a contestants from auditions through to the grand finale. In the initial audition phase of the show, contestants sang in front of the judges within an audition room. From show 6 onwards, auditionees sing on a point facing the judges and a live crowd. Successful auditionees proceed through to"boot camp" and then to"judges' houses", where judges narrow down the actions in their category down to three or four actions to mentor to the concert events, where the public vote for their preferred acts following each week live performances by the contestants.
