Betrayed
Millions of Jews from all over Europe are deported and slaughtered in German concentration camps during WWII. Norwegian Jews feel safe and protected as German troops invade Norway. However, anti-Semitism knows no boundaries, and when the war in Europe escalates, the situation alters dramatically. Their radios are suddenly confiscated, their passports are marked with a huge J, and one day, all men over the age of 15 are arrested and brought to prison camps. Many of the ladies who have been left behind are too afraid to flee and are frantically hoping for their husbands and sons to return home. On November 26, 1942, hundreds of Jews are apprehended by police in the middle of the night and carried to an Oslo pier. Men, women, children, the sick, and the elderly are forced onto the awaiting German cargo ship "SS DONAU." The ship sets sail with 532 Norwegian Jews aboard, including 302 men, 188 women, and 42 children. Auschwitz is the final destination.
