Lou Reed & John Cale: Songs for Drella
Songs for Drella is a concept album by Lou Reed and John Cale, both formerly of The Velvet Underground, and is devoted to the memory of their mentor Andy Warhol, who tragically passed away in 1987. Warhol's crowd referred to him as Drella, a portmanteau of Dracula and Cinderella invented by Warhol Superstar Ondine. The song cycle focuses on Warhol's interpersonal relationships and experiences, with songs falling roughly into three categories: Warhol's first-person perspective (which comprises the majority of the album), third-person narratives chronicling events and affairs, and first-person commentary on Warhol by Reed and Cale. The order of the tracks on the CD is roughly chronological.
