A Gray State
In 2010 David Crowley, an Iraq veteran, upandcoming voice that was charismatic and aspiring filmmaker in fringe politics, began production in his film grey State. Place in a mystical near-future where civil liberties are trampled by an federal government, the film's audience funded the burgeoning online community of libertarians, tea-party activists and members of the nascent alt-right received trailer. Along with his family in his suburban Minnesota home, Crowley was found dead in January of 2015. Their shocking deaths fast become a cause célèbre for conspiracy theorists who speculate Crowley was assassinated by a dark government worried with a film and filmmaker which was getting too near the truth about their aims.
