Celia
The film recounts a long hot summer through the eyes and overactive imagination of nine-year-old Celia, set in mid-1950s Australia with the fear of communism in the air and the country's farmlands overrun by a plague of rabbits. Celia is torn between the brutal games and rituals of childhood and the strange world of grown-ups after the death of her loving Grandmother. With terrible creatures invading her nightmares at night, those imagined terrors mix with the commonplace harshness of adult life during the day, leading to sad and surprising outcomes.
