Hoop Dreams
Every school day, african american teen-agers William Gates and Arthur Agee traveling 90 minutes each way from inner-city Chicago to St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, also a predominately white suburban faculty well-known for its excellence of its own basketball program. Gates and Agee fantasy of NBA stardom, and with their families' support, they and the physiological and social obstacles that stand in their own way struggle. This documentary was shot over five years' span.
