Murdered at 17
Brooke Emerson, a seventeen-year-old high school senior who is attractive and popular, is the envy of her classmates and even some of her closest friends. Brooke, on the other hand, has never felt more alone in her life, while appearing to have everything. Since suffering a concussion on a cheerleading stunt the previous year, she has been suffering from a mental illness that causes her to erupt into unpredictable, and at times violent, rages. Even though she does her hardest to maintain her composure, she finds herself in danger of jeopardizing her otherwise ideal existence. After meeting Jake, an attractive and fascinating stranger, Brooke realizes she has finally found someone who not only understands her but also embraces her for who she truly is. Whatever the temptation to being swept up in the romance, she can't help but feel that something isn't quite right about their relationship. When Brooke's best friend is brutally killed, she has little choice but to rely on her new love...especially considering she is concerned that she herself might be the perpetrator of the crime.
