The Bravados
The CinemaScope film was founded on a book of the same name written by Frank O'Rourke. Jim Douglas (Gregory Peck) is a rancher that has been chasing the 4 outlaws who murdered his wife for six months. He slides to town of Rio Arriba, where four men, Alfonso Parral (Lee Van Cleef), Bill Zachary (Stephen Boyd), Ed Taylor (Albert Salmi) and Lujan (Henry Silva), matching the description have been in prison awaiting execution, so that he can see the hanging. Town has issued directions to only allow the hangman (Joe DeRita) to enter, so Jim has been accepted to Sheriff Eloy Sanchez's (Herbert Rudley) office to express his own company. Town never had an execution before, so they have brought in a man from town to accomplish the position. The sheriff lets Jim into the jail. He gets the face of a hunter, although they assert that they had never seen him before.
