Describing herself as a'street queen,' Johnson was a legendary fixture at New York City's gay ghetto and a tireless voice for LGBT pride as the days of Stonewall, that and fellow Portuguese icon Sylvia Rivera, founded Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.), a trans activist group located in the heart of NYC's Greenwich Village. Friends never accepted that version of events, although her passing in 1992 was announced a suicide by the NYPD. Structured as a whodunit, together with activist Victoria Cruz throw as detective and audience , The Death and Life of Marsha P.
