The Infernal Trio

The year is 1919, and the location is Marseilles. Lawyer Georges Sarret has just been recognized for his contributions during World War 1. Philomène Schmidt, a young German woman who has recently lost her job and home, becomes his lover. Georges arranges for Philomène to marry a Frenchman, and then the spouse conveniently dies of natural reasons a month after the wedding, allowing Philomène to stay in France. After Georges successfully marries off Philomène's sister Catherine to an elderly man who unexpectedly dies, the three con artists divide the proceeds from the guy's life insurance policy. As a result of Marcel Chambon's blackmail, Georges and his two lovers are forced to murder him and his mistress.
