Under the Open Sky

Having spent the better part of his life behind bars, Mikami, a middle-aged ex-yakuza, is finally freed from jail after spending 13 years for murder. After being separated from his mother as a child, he registers for a TV show and meets a young TV director named Tsunoda in the hopes of reuniting with her. However, he has a hard time finding steady employment and integrating into normal social life. Tsunoda and the people who wish to help him have trouble getting along with him because of his impetuous, stubborn personality and deeply held convictions.
