Dexter's Laboratory
Dexter's Laboratory is a Cartoon Network animated children's television series developed by Genndy Tartakovsky. The tale follows Dexter, a young genius who has a secret laboratory full of his creations. He is frequently at odds with his sister Dee Dee, who always finds a way in despite his best efforts to keep her out, and his arch-rival and neighbor, Mandark. Dial M for Monkey, about Dexter's pet lab monkey-turned-superhero, and The Justice Friends, about a trio of superheroes who share an apartment, are two more episodes from the first two seasons of the show. Tartakovsky first presented the series to Hanna-animated Barbera's shorts showcase World Premiere Toons, basing it on student films he produced while attending the California Institute of the Arts. Four shorts were produced and aired on Cartoon Network in 1995 and 1996 before the network ordered a 13-episode first season, which debuted on April 28, 1996. By1999, 52 episodes and a television feature had been created, and Tartakovsky had departed the series to work on his other projects, Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars. The series was renewed by the network in 2001 under a new production team at Cartoon Network Studios, and it ended on November20,2003, after 26 more episodes.
