Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British sitcom created by BBC Television that aired on BBC2 from 1975 and 1979. Twelve episodes were produced. The sitcom was created by John Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth, who also starred in it. The series takes place in Fawlty Towers, a fictional hotel in Torquay, on the "English Riviera." The plots revolve around the hotel's angry, harsh, and put-upon proprietor Basil Fawlty, his dictatorial wife Sybil, a comparably normal chambermaid Polly, and inept Spanish waiter Manuel, and their attempts to run the hotel amid comic events and an assortment of demanding and eccentric visitors. Fawlty Towers was chosen the best British television series of all time in a list compiled by the British Film Institute in 2000 and voted on by industry professionals.
