Soldier Soldier
Soldier Soldier is actually a British television drama show. The title originates from a classic song of the same name -"Soldier, soldier will you marry me, together along with your musket, fife and drum?" - which was used as its theme music, a worthy version.
Manufactured by Central Television and broadcast on the ITV system, it ran for a total of 82 episodes and seven seasons from 1991 to 1997. It featured the lives of friends of soldiers 'B' Company also a literary British Army infantry regiment depending around the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Set in the immediate aftermath of the Cold War, it's regarded as a true depiction of army life in early to mid-1990s, when the British Army was experiencing substantial change. That is perhaps best demonstrated around 1994, if a number of regiments that were real were forced in to amalgamations with eachother due to down sizing of the army, during the 3rd show. From the Realm of Soldier Soldier, the King's Fusiliers will also be forced to amalgamate with all the Cumbrian Regiment getting the King's Own Fusiliers. Soldier Soldier was broadcast, the fatality rate was low with casualties because of training injuries and suicides. The military as a whole was delegated to performing peace keeping assignments than doing any fighting. The series served well to depict the army, in a good light, regardless of the problems that could occur.
