Texhnolyze
The Japanese anime TV show Texhnolyze is directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and based on a screenplay by Chiaki Konaka. It is produced by Yasuyuki Ueda, and Yoshitoshi ABe designed the characters. The events take place in Lux, an underground city that is both busy and broken down. People who live in Lux call it "The City" and think of it as a living thing. Organo, a strictly professional conglomerate with ties to the criminal underworld in the prosthetics business, the Union, a fanatical populist group that meddles in Organo's business, and Racan, a group of Texhnolyzed youths on the run, all want to run the city. The series has a large cast, but the main characters are Ichise, a calm prize fighter who loses a leg and an arm to satisfy an angry promoter, Onishi, a young but level-headed executive of the Organo who has many enemies, and Ran, a little girl with a very important gift that affects the whole city. As the characters try to deal with the problems they are given, they see big things happen that affect whether or not the city stays alive. From April 16, 2003, to September 24, 2003, a total of twenty episodes of Texhnolyze were shown on Fuji Television. On the DVD, there were two episodes that were "secret."
