Tin Man
Tin Man is a four-and-a-half-hour miniseries from 2007 that was made by RHI Entertainment and Sci Fi Channel Original Pictures. It was shown in three parts in the US on the Sci Fi Channel. The first part was shown on December 2, and the other two were shown the next two nights. It came out on DVD on March 11, 2008. It was shown again in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand the same year. The miniseries, which stars Zooey Deschanel, Neal McDonough, Alan Cumming, Raoul Trujillo, Kathleen Robertson, and Richard Dreyfuss, is a continuation of the classic story "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" with science fiction and more fantasy elements added. It tells the story of DG, a waitress from a small town who is pulled into a magical world called the O.Z., which is run by the cruel sorceress Azkadellia. DG goes on a journey with her friends Glitch, Raw, and Cain to find her lost memories, find her real parents, and stop Azkadellia's plan to trap the O.Z. in darkness for all time. The first part of the miniseries, which cost $20 million to make, had 6.4 million viewers and was the most-watched show in its time slot. The miniseries as a whole would be the most-watched miniseries of 2007. It was up for nine Emmys and won one of them. It was also up for a Critics' Choice Award. Some critics liked the acting, the music, and the visual effects, while others thought it was too dark and sad.
